Change in Your Child’s Eligible Dependent Status

Do you know if your child’s eligibility for benefits will be changing? If not, keep reading. Eligibility is different for health coverage than it is for other benefits.

Health

If you child is turning age 26, they will no longer be eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage when they turn 26 unless they unmarried and became physically or mentally unable to support themselves (you will need to provide proof of incapacity). Be sure to remove your child from coverage when they are no longer eligible.

  • Contact HR Services or call 1-866-279-4357 to request a change.

All Other Benefits

Is your child getting married? Turning 19 or 25 if a full-time student at an educational institution? If you answered yes to either of these questions, your child will no longer be eligible when this happens unless they are unmarried and became physically or mentally unable to support themselves (you will need to provide proof of incapacity). Be sure to remove your child from coverage when they are no longer eligible.
