Family and Medical Leave
If you are a full-time or regular part-time associate, you are eligible for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) when you have been employed with the company for 12 months and have worked 1,250 hours or more during the 12 months before the leave. If you don't fit these requirements, you may be eligible for Short-Term Disability coverage.
Length of leave
FMLA leave can extend for up to 12 weeks (continuous or intermittent), and it may include job protection. It generally is unpaid.
Reasons to use this type of leave
FMLA generally can be used for:
- Birth of a child and care of the newborn child
- Adoption or foster care placement and care of newly placed child
- Care for an immediate family member with a "serious health condition"
- Your own "serious health condition" when you’re unable to work
- Active duty of spouse, child or parent in the Armed Forces during a war or national emergency declared by the President or Congress
- Care of a service member who is a spouse, child, parent or next of kin who becomes seriously ill or injured while serving on active duty in the Armed Forces
Maternity Leave
Pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions are eligible for paid Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits. The length of Maternity Leave and benefit amount you’re eligible for is based on your role and years of service.
Maternity Leave is separate from and cannot be combined with Parental Leave or Adoption Leave.
Adoption Leave
If you are a full-time associate (regularly working 30 hours or more per week) with one year of service or more, you may be eligible for an adoption leave.
Note: Adoption Leave is separate from and cannot be combined with Maternity Leave or Parental Bonding Leave.
Length of leave
You may be eligible for up to four weeks off for an adoption, with two weeks paid and two weeks unpaid. Leave is available for one adoption within a 12-month period.

Parental Bonding Leave
Adding a little one to your family is life-changing. Both parents need time to recover, get acquainted and adjust to the new addition. Caleres is committed to helping you balance the demands of the workplace with the needs of your family. The Parental Bonding Leave program gives you time to bond as a parent with your newborn, newly adopted child, new foster care child or child newly placed in your custody.
Note: Parental Bonding Leave is separate from and cannot be combined with Maternity Leave or Adoption Leave.
Eligibility
The Parental Bonding Leave Program is available to all regular full-time associates (excluding retail field store associates and DC non-management) of Caleres, Inc. who have completed at least one year of service. You are considered a full-time associate if you regularly work 30 or more hours per week. This benefit is not applicable to retail field store associates, part-time associates, independent contractors or individuals employed by temporary/employment agencies.
Length of leave
Parental Bonding offers up to four weeks off, with two weeks paid and two weeks unpaid, in connection with a birth, adoption or placement of a foster child. Leave must begin within 12 months of the birth, adoption, or placement of a foster child.

Bereavement Leave
You may be excused from work to attend funeral services and take care of personal business for up to three days with pay in the event of a death of a relative or due to pregnancy loss including miscarriage and stillbirth. A “relative” includes:
- Parent or stepparent
- Sibling, stepsibling
- Spouse, common-law spouse, domestic partner
- Child, stepchild, grandchild
- Grandparent
- In-law
You may extend this time based on individual circumstances and with approval from your supervisor. If you are an associate residing in the State of California, please see your manager for state specific Bereavement guidelines.
For deaths of relatives such as a great-grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, niece or nephew, payment will be given for the day of the funeral only. If you need additional time to travel to the funeral location, you may take up to two additional days with pay, pending approval from your supervisor.
